Rating: 5 out of 5.

A beautiful graphic novel fantasy romance that follows two young women who have to go on their own separate adventures to discover the truth about themselves and about each other.

Preet is magic.

Valissa is not.

Everyone in their village has magic in their bones, and Preet is the strongest of them all. Without any power of her own, how can Valissa ever be worthy of Preet’s love? When their home is attacked, Valissa has a chance to prove herself, but that means leaving Preet behind. On her own for the first time Preet breaks the village’s most sacred laws, and is rejected from the only home she’s ever known and sent into a new world.

Divided by different paths, insecurities, and distance, will Valissa and Preet be able to find their way back to each other?

A beautiful story of two young women who are so focused on proving they’re meant to be together that they end up hurting each other in the process. This gorgeous graphic novel is an LGTBQ+ romance about young love and how it can grow into something strong no matter what obstacles get in the way.

Thank you immensely to TBR and Beyond Tours and author Jessi Zabarsky for senign me a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review. You can check out the rest of the tour schedule below!

If you are a fan of Undertale, the video game, then you for sure need to pick up this book. The Undertale vibes are immaculate. Our two main characters, Preet and Valissa, are very easy to love and their story is one I wish I had more of. Valissa and Preet are opposites when it comes to the magic bestowed upon the people on their island, but they soon find themselves on two different journeys, separated from one another.

Each journey that both Valissa and Preet overcame was so unique and they each came with their own challenges. Without spoiling too much, Valissa must figure out a way to prove herself to her town and maybe gain some of that magic she thought was lost to her, while Preet must understand that magic and longing come with a heavy cost. Zabarsky’s direction she took this graphic novel was so full of rich story-telling and amazing graphics. I wish I could forget this book and start all over again. I definitely recommend this read to anyone wishing for a quick, magical escape from the day to day.
